Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William.
He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This
image was rumoured to have been
commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness
in the White Chapel district of London. Do enjoy your stay and peruse our many, varied offerings, much of which cannot be found elsewhere!

The following review was completed on November 12, 2006 and is for Version 7: baptism of blood and fire!
First Impression (6/10 points):
I really hate waiting for a site to load, especially when I have DSL. It took
about 7 seconds for your site to load.
Design (25/30 points):
I like the drawing in the main image. I do not do my art exactly the same way as
you do (line art), but your artwork is great and the image on top of your layout
is a great way to bring together your site.
The theme of black and red is great, but it is too boxy and then there is the
iframe. Have you considered trying PHP? If you designed your site and split it
into header, content and footer, you could eliminate the iframe and decrease the
load time time on your site upon entering. If you have a large image, consider
splicing it AND saving as a GIF. Remember although JPG and PNG retain more
colour, they do tend to pack on the weight.
I think with the caliber of art you can do, perhaps a little more could be shown
like accents for your site sections. You have a lot of area that is just black
and red, but other than the main image, your have nothing else to pull together
and accentuate your site. Perhaps a flame like in the main image would be a good
idea?
Coding (6/10 points)
I did put your site to the
W3 Validator and your site by the main page alone had 32 errors. I do
suggest checking it out. Most of it was errors like you did not specify the
DOCTYPE of your site (see the W3 validation link I did for your site above) and
you also use capital letters when coding. Use lowercase letters always!
Frontpage will not always do it for you, so be aware that if you use a web page
editor, that you begin and end the coding on your site properly.
Content (23/30 points)
You have a lot of content. I was surprised after all the artwork to have not
found much except for your blog to be in any means close to having personal
content. All these wonderful artwork are displayed, but nothing about the author
himself. You are either too humble to have not have included your information
(or at least to some extent) or you forgot.
I like some of the tutorials. I do not see enough on creating a CD. However, as
much as it has detail in each numbered point, there could be more, like photos
and such. Some people are really into the visual part of a tutorial and
sometimes just do not get it by word alone.... especially the part on making a
cover for a CD.
You have combined the visitor and domain info into the miscellaneous section of
your site. It seems out of place to see your site gifts and awards within places
that are for your visitors to check out and try. I suggest going through and
possibly making a separate section.
Overall Impression (16/20 points):
I enjoyed a lot of your artwork and some of the quizzes you had up for visitors.
I liked that you allow others to submit artwork. Perhaps later you might install
a photo gallery script and load everything that way. Sometimes manual additions
and edits are not fun.
I do believe if you take a look at that W3 site and correct all your coding
errors, you will successfully have a HTML 4.0 Transitional site in the least.
Also, do not be shy. Share more about yourself. As an artist you should put some
information out there so your fans / visitors can know more about you.
