Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William.
He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This
image was rumoured to have been
commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness
in the White Chapel district of London. Do enjoy your stay and peruse our many, varied offerings, much of which cannot be found elsewhere!

by William the Bloody
Ever since he was a little kid, Flint Lockwood has dreamed of becoming an inventor. He wanted to create something that would change the world for the better. The only person who ever really encouraged him was his mother. Now that Flint is all grown up and his mother has passed away, his father has tried to support his creative son as best as he could, but failure after failure for years has finally brought his support to its limit. Their little island town of Swallow Falls has reached hard times; their local economy was completely dependent on being the world's foremost supplier of sardines, but the world has decided en masse that sardines are yucky. So, the locals of Swallow Falls who are left with nearly no money and boatloads of sardines, are left with little alternative but to eat all of the nasty sardines themselves and practically nothing else. Flint has a brainwave: make a machine that can easily and cheaply create delicious food for everyone. Water goes in the top, and food, any food you program in, comes out the bottom. After the preliminary trial shorts out his father's house, Flint comes to the conclusion that all this baby needs is more power and it would work and he can help everyone. However, the power lines he hooks into cause the machine to go haywire, and it literally launches itself into the sky, presumably lost. Then it starts to rain hamburgers. The unscrupulous mayor of Swallow Falls sees this unique weather as a means to attract tourists and bolster the economy. Flint is the inventing hero he always dreamed of being, so when the machine starts to malfunction it's easy to ignore the problem. But then the food from the sky start getting bigger and bigger....
The Good: Okay, I'm not going to hide it: this movie is fantastic! I love pretty much everything about it! The celebrity voice artists Mr. T, Bruce Campbell, Bill Hader, and Anna Faris all did outstanding jobs! The combination of voices and character images was the perfect marriage of expression vocally and visually. The animation was really swell, too. It wasn't amazingly dazzling like some Pixar films, but it was right where it needed to be for this sort of story. And what a story! So imaginative! I had never heard of the children's book on which it is based, but it's the perfect story for kids and any adult with a good sense of humour will appreciate it, too. It was really almost non-stop fun and hilarity start to finish! And I loved the brand of humour in this movie! It was perfect! I was afraid that a movie about food for kids would have wall to wall belching and fart jokes, but I don't think there was a single one! Yay for them!
The Bad: The structure of the story was a little too pat. The classic outcast-becomes a hero-becomes a pariah-then a hero again tale. They made it work well, though.
Overall: fantastic. Love it. Fun and funny, I don't think I stopped smiling the entire time I was watching it! If you can enjoy a cartoon, you will definitely enjoy this.
A+
