Starla Pin-Up Homage. Well, hey, once again it's Starla from the online comic Agents of the Endtimes! This image is an homage to a pic her creator made as a commision, which is presently his Twitter background (you can see it HERE). I hadn't drawn ANYTHING for quite sometime (as I'm sure some of you may have noticed), and just really, really wanted to draw something. I only had a certain amount of time available, so I didn't want to waste precious minutes conceptualizing anything, which meant I would either have to copy something, or draw nothing at all. I had been positively tickled by Jimmy's pin-up ever since he debuted it, plus I am a big fan of Starla (if hadn't guessed), so I thought "why not?". As you can see, I took Jimmy's idea and did my own thing with it. The glass is larger, I decided to make her dress a little sparkly, I put her wings on, and did something different with the background. I want to go record as saying how difficult that hand was. I cannot recall the last time a hand made me want to kill myself as much as this one. Other than that, I'm rather pleased with this pic overall. I was having trouble colouring her dress at first, which is why I decided on making it sparkly: because the techniques are totally different. I think it totally works for her here. Wings are really hard to create on a good day, but having them folded in like this helped very much. I would like to thank In Obscuro for the brushes I used to colour those wings, by the way. I am so happy about the "bowl" of the glass as well. I didn't have the time to muck about with layers here, so everything is coloured using masks. I was able to use the lasso tool to select the "bowl" and add the gradient blue to it, which is something I've only done like twice before. I want to close by saying I do believe Starla has some right sexy legs.
