Happiness is a Warm Gun. So, I'm sure the majority of you out there are wondering what the merry hell am I doing drawing a bit of Punisher fan art. I'll tell you. I'm surrendering to the enormous amount of peer-to-teen pressure which has been laid on by the insidious FORREST GRUMP in a series of whines, pleas, stick pokings, and inappropriate rumour-spreading. For reasons I'm sure many psycho analysts are queued up around the block to hear, The Punisher is Forrest's favourite comic book character, and since he had been super-cool by contributing to this site with numerous movie reviews, he requested that I make him a doodle instead of one of my trademarked CDs (most likely due to the fact that our music tastes differ greatly... The Cure ARE cool, ya know!!). It took some muster on my part to finally pull this one together. I gathered a bunch of the Marvel Knights Punisher comics and referenced the marvelous cover arts by Tim Bradstreet along with my own 9mm hand gun. On the left you can see the original sketch and the suckiness of said hand guns. Good gravy I can't draw proper weaponry to save my life (one reason I put off doing this pic). On the right is the image after a dose of extra potent computer wizardry. Normally, my computer wizardry looks like something that came out of dysentery-stricken mule's backside, but in this case, I really like the result. I admit I hadn't intended for so much computer manipulation at the start; I was just erasing hand smudges and straightening the lines on the guns. Then I got more than a little carried away with meself and started messing with the colouring. I quite like this piece overall. His face looks good, as do his muscle-y arms, and in the end the hand guns look swell. Hope you like it, you bastard. (incidentally, I was listening to the U2 version of "Happiness is a Warm Gun (Gun Mix)" and "One Hundred Years" by the Cure and loads of punk rock while working on this. Fun fact, there)
