The Other Mother. Hey, check it out: fan art based on a BOOK! A real, honest to goodness, book! Yeah, so it's a kid's book, sue me. This is the other mother from Coraline, by Neil Gaiman, who is one of my heroes, just so you know. The book is geared towards the nine year old set, but it still sort of creeped me out. This is the other mother towards the end of the book where her little world is kind of falling apart into mist that isn't mist and she's looking a little less and less like Coraline's real mother by the minute, and she's got Coraline's real parents trapped in the snow globe. The description of her with those big black button eyes and long fingernails on fingers that never seem to stop moving is pretty eerie, and having thought of her, decided to draw her. Yeah I know, she's supposed to have BLACK hair, but I figured on the whole place, her included, becoming sort of washed out, like a watercolour, thus all the drab colours. And you've got the "William's Background Art For Dummies" thing going on yet again, so don't you feel special? I like it. I worked just a tad more on it than the last pic I did, and I think that shows, but it was still just a quickie.
