Jesse, the Vitruvian Man. Hey, get a load of this! It's... you have no idea, do you? This is Jesse, he's a character from the cartoon series Daria. He was in the band Mystic Spiral with Jane's brother, Trent. In case you never watched the show, the end credits of every episode ended with a series of still images of the characters in alter egos. For example, Daria's mom as Medusa, Trent as a cowboy, Daria as Andy Warhol, and so on. Nearly every recurring character was given some sort of alter ego and featured at one point or another during the end credits in any number of varying personae. I got the idea to depict Jesse here as daVinci's famous study in anatomy mostly from one alter ego which featured Daria's dad as the Birth of Venus, you know, the nude lady on the half shell? In the Daria version, Jake is wearing polka dotted boxers and socks. I thought Jesse would be a good match for the Vitruvian Man because 1. Jesse actually does have a similar hair style to the daVinci, and 2. Jesse is one character who is shown on the show shirtless and with good, defined musculature. Jesse has beat up and off-white socks and boxers because the character is often described as a slob (or at the very least, one who rarely showers), so that's how I imagine his unmentionables would look. Yeah, I KNOW the circle and square aren't concentric like daVinci rendered, but well, my anatomy drawing isn't NEARLY as good as a Renaissance painter, now is it? I'm glad the image looks very much Jesse in the face, and I hope at least some of you out there got what I was trying to pull off.
