Gorey Header. Here's the second installment of pieces pertaining to Version 9. I have never done this for this site before. I actually hand lettered that header! It was all a part of my Gorey emulation plan. I wanted everything look as Edward Gorey-ian as possible, so computer lettering just wasn't going to cut it. Here's a sample of the Gorey work I was attempting to homage:
Of course, mine doesn't look nearly as good, but hopefully you can see what I was going for. Gorey always hand lettered his work with astonishingly accurate spacing and sizing, which was out of my league. What I ended up doing was typing up my text in Times New Roman, printing it, and then tracing it in order to get the right look. "Bloody" looks sorta funky, but the rest is okay. I'm pleased I was able to get the rounded parts of the banner to look as good as they do.
