Queen Icy. This here is a comic book portrait of Miss Icy Sedgwick, one of my online pals. After starting my DeviantArt account, she reviewed my gallery and commented that if she weren't so shy she would ask me to draw her. Well, I'm not a person to turn down and interest art idea. Icy frequently mentions in her online bios that she is an evil villain and I thought it would be fun to draw her as just that. I designed her outfit based off of the clothes Icy seems to like in the photos of her in her own DeviantArt gallery. The throne of skulls came about simply because when I went to rough in an actual chair-type throne, I discovered her arms weren't quite level with each other, and heck, nothing conveys "evil mistress" like a s throne made out of the skulls of one's enemies, now does it? Unfortunately, I did not draw those skulls. I downloaded a free brush comprised of 18 excellent skulls made by Baggedtoy93. It took combining several layers of skulls and erasing overlapping bits to get it to look decent, and even then the skulls didn't appear to exist on the same plain as my hand drawn Icy figure. It took much mucking about with contrast and other effects to make them look like they were in the same picture, never mind that Icy was actually sitting on them. For that, I had to hand "paint" on some additional shadows and highlights to the skulls. It took a little more effort than I had expected, but I am rather pleased with the end result, as is Miss Icy herself, so there's that bit of satisfaction.
