Chaffy panel contribution. I was first introduced to the curious and adventurous critters known as Chaffies through my Twitter account. Chaffy is the basis for a new children's book entitled Find Chaffy which is in the Where's Waldo? vein, where children are treated to extravagantly detailed double-page spreads of charming activities like a kitty circus and they must find a certain number of Chaffies hidden within. Then, the website opened up the ENDLESS ongoing Chaffy adventure: where ANYONE can submit a single panel contributing to one particularly adventurous Chaffy's journey. There are already over thirty panels drawn by many talented people in various art styles. I KNEW I HAD TO GET IN ON THIS. It's only one panel, Chaffy has a simple design, and it would be added to something totally awesome for many to see. But, what to have Chaffy DOING? That was a toughie; after all, previous panels had him roasting marshmallows with Gandalf on Mount Doom and opening a wormhole in the space-time continuum. In the end, I decided that having him fold paper cranes would be something easy to render. I was actually able to create that entire panel entirely on the computer, which saved me loads of time. Chaffy is easy to make using the shape tool in Corel Draw, as were the paper cranes. Well, so I made ONE crane and duplicated it over and over. And no, there AREN'T one thousand cranes visible in this panel, more like about one hundred. In case you didn't know, the entire basis for this panel is the belief that if you fold one thousand paper cranes you get to have a wish come true. My only issue with this panel it the text: it was super hard to find a way for it to be READABLE. I do hope it IS readable.
