Dinglehopper Discovery!. ...and we're back to Gargoyles type stuff. This pic is for the October 2009 Monthly Gargoyles Art Contest, which asks to combine any other Disney property with Gargoyles. I thought Ariel being part fish, would lend herself well to being Gargoyle-ized. I think I was correct in that assumption. The hardest part was coming up with wings, but I ended up basing them on the flying fish, and altered her tail and other fins to match. Check out her webbed finers and elbow fins. I'm disappointed with her horns in hindsight, but I have trouble in general coming up with fancy gargoyle horn arrangements. I should have done something a bit more aquatic themed. Overall, I think the picture turned out well. The colours really make it fun. Incidentally, I coloured this using 8 layers, for those keeping score at home. I kinda like how the watery background turned out, too.
