Aboriginal. What the heck is this? Well, it's the conceptual sketch for a possible entry in the April 2009 The Monthly Gargoyles Art Contest which is themed "Gargoyles down under." The only idea I could come up with was the look of Australian Aborigines, and that made me think of both the X-men character Gateway and of the Guru character from the videogame Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Both characters wield a bullroarer and it is often associated with indigenous Australians. I have read however, that bullroarers are considered sacred and it is taboo for women to see or hear them, but I believe the Gargoyles as a species overall have expressed an equality of the sexes moreso than even modern humans, therefore I think this female Gargoyle using one fits with canon mythos. So there. I may implement some changes for the final colored version, and wanted to preserve the original just in case I "ruin" it.
