Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William.
He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This
image was rumoured to have been
commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness
in the White Chapel district of London. Do enjoy your stay and peruse our many, varied offerings, much of which cannot be found elsewhere!
:: Geek Quiz Crib Sheet ::
This is here for those of you not quite geeky enough to comprehend most of the questions. It is also here for those of you stuck on a particular question.
1. Everyone knows Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan have played James Bond. If you could remember Timothy Dalton or George Lazenby then you're Geek material.
2. I pretty much picked the number 12 out of my ass. Just about anyone could probably name 2 or 3 comic book artists, like the classic Jack Kirby. You'd have to be really into comics to name 12.
3. Anime is of course Japanese animated works either of the movie or cartoon show variety. Most anime is quite pricey because of the import factor, so if you are willing to blow about $30 a movie you are probably a Geek. And if you actually prefer it with subtitled Japanese dialogue well cheers my geeky friend!
4. I mainly included this TV season question because us geeks are renowned pack-rats no matter what the cost. Also, this one's kinda a "gimme" for those hardly geeky types who are taking this quiz for some reason.
5. Most Geeks are renowned purists of the director's true vision, hence the question.
6. If the people at your comic shop know you so well they know you by name, well that's one step towards geekiness.
7. If you are over the age of 15 and buy yourself action figures, you definitely have a geek trait.
8. The 14 travelers in The Hobbit were Bilbo, Thoran Oakenshield, Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur (I suppose I'll count Gandalf, though he was only there part of the way).
9. The nine travelers in Fellowship were, Frodo, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Merriadoc, Samwise, Pippin, Boromir, and Aragorn (aka Strider).
10. Everyone knows who Superman is, but if you feel so strongly about him being properly portrayed that you've actually come up with a few ideas for actors, well you may be a Geek.
11. Every sci-fi/Trekker out there knows the first Star Trek Movie sucked ass, and that Star Trek 2: the Wrath of Khan is far superior.
12. Ah, Buckaroo Banzai. The title character is a brain surgeon/astrophysicist/rock and roller. The villain is called Dr. Lizardo and played by John Lithgow. Trust me; you'd know if you'd seen it.
13. The evil film industry conundrum. They release a movie on DVD over the summer for those of us to slobbery to possibly wait another second, and then released another, better version before X-mas.
14. One of the funniest thing about the film Army of Darkness are the great zingers by star Bruce Campbell. I.e. "Well hello, Mr. Fancy Pants!", and "Yo! She-bitch!"
15. Sci-fi/comic book/Star Trek conventions and Renaissance Festivals are of course where geeks go to be with their own kind.
16. The actual line from Dirty Harry is: "...you have to ask yourself, 'Do I feel lucky.' Well do you, punk?"
17. The ultimate answer to the ultimate question being 42 is a reference to the book, and subsequent sequels to, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
18. Ah, the old-fashioned and original RPG! Only true, hard core geeks are purists for these sessions!
19. The 3 Catwomen were, Julie Newmar, Lee Merriweather, and Eartha Kitt.
20. The age-old debate among Trekkers is which is better, The Original Series or The Next Generation. If you have pondered your side so much so that you can come up with more than 3 reasons, congratulations, you've a geek in you.
21. Millennium Falcon can do the Kessle Run in less than 12 parsecs.
22. Many people have their own website these days, but if you've gone so far as to learn HTML to code it on your own, well, that's a step towards geekiness.
23. The Shadow knows!
24. The members of Voltron Force, a cartoon show imported from Japan in the 80's, were Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, Sven, and later, Princess Allura.
25. "When someone asks you if you're a god you say 'yes'!" is from the end of the movie Ghostbusters.
